There are many sensors that can be found on automotive engines, especially on modern engines with many fuel-saving and power-boosting features that require a lot of information to keep precise.
- Air Charge Temperature Sensor (ACT)
- Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP)
- Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP)
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
- Knock Sensor (KS)
- Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP)
- Manifold Air Temperature Sensor (MAT)
- Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)
- Moisture/Humidity Sensor
- Oil Level Sensor
- Oil Pressure Sensor
- Oxygen Sensor (O2 Sensor)
- Throttle Pedal
- Throttle Pedal Position Sensor
- Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Not every sensor listed here will be found on every engine, but most modern engines will have all or almost all of them. Some sensors may be added as aftermarket features to give the driver more information than the vehicle originally would have.
