The throttle pedal, often called the gas pedal, is a driver input device that allows the driver to easily control the speed and power output of the engine. On gasoline engines, they would typically be connected to a throttle cable, which would also be connected to the throttle body. In more modern gasoline engines, the throttle pedal sends an electronic signal to the engine control computer, which then takes other factors into consideration and controls the electronic throttle body based on driver input and what is safe.
