Oldsmobile was a General Motors brand which mostly produced passenger cars. They had a few sporty cars through the years, most notably the Olds 442. The company was founded by Ransom Olds in 1897, and phased out by General Motors in 2004. One of the last new car designs it produced was the Aurora, a new take on the brand that wasn't successful enough to change the image of the brand or save it.
Role Within General Motors
Among GM's brands, Oldsmobile was designed to be more luxurious than Chevrolet and Pontiac, but less so than Buick and Cadillac.
