Mopar 68191349AC / MO349 Cross Reference

This filter application is a cartridge design that is housed inside a reusable (often plastic) housing. On the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine of the first generation Jeep Gladiator, the housing is at the top of the engine, near the middle. The filter itself has a small section that sticks out of one of the endcaps that has a small o-ring.

This filter differs from the Volkswagen version and older Pentastar engines that have not been upgraded/retrofitted. A part number for the 2014 Volkswagen Routan that also has the 3.6L Pentastar is 7B0115562D, which appears to have a four-finger connection point, doing away with the o-ring. Some aftermarket parts retailers will show the filters listed on this page in addition to aftermarket filters with the four-finger design. We have made an effort to not include the four-finger design in this list for the sake of consistency.

The following unofficial cross reference data is information gathered about oil filters from various brands. Any listing with a date code is data taken from an actual in-hand oil filter unless otherwise described in notes. If there is no date code listed, it is general information taken from somewhere online and information like the country of origin should be viewed with even more skepticism. The "Check" date is when the oil filter was last checked. If a date code says "None", that means it was in hand but no date code was found, even when checked with UV light. If you see a part number multiple times, it is because multiple examples have been checked, so changes may be noted.

This list currently contains 41 oil filters, 30 of which have affiliate links.

The Pentastar engine has had a known oil filter assembly weakness that doesn't just affect the oil filter. The original, OE replacement, and many aftermarket replacement oil filter housings are made of high temperature plastic, but it has its limits. Many heat cycles (some of these engines have 194° thermostat settings, so they run somewhat hot on purpose, and this part sits in the top middle of the engine) or heat spikes beyond what the design accounts for can cause warping or splitting, while sensors that screw into it may get stuck and strip out the brass/metal insert when attempting to service. The solves multiple issues at once by using high pressure cast aluminum.

In this video, Nick from Dorman Products shows off the 926-959, and compares it to the competition.

Installing The Dorman 926-959 by

This video walks you through the general steps involved in upgrading your oil filter housing.

Notes:

  1. This kit includes seals you may need during installation, as well as some that don't apply to your vehicle. Including everything in the box for multiple vehicles may be a small annoyance, but it's a smaller annoyance than them making a bunch of part numbers and a parts catalog lists the wrong one for your vehicle.
  2. Sensors are not included, but shouldn't need to be replaced just because the housing is being replaced. Reuse old sensors unless they are also not functioning properly.
  3. As stated on the orange oil filter housing cap, the vehicle will be upgraded to the 2015 generation Pentastar oil filter design. If you install this on a vehicle with the old design, you will have to remember this when buying your oil filter. If your vehicle is already equipped with the same type of filter, you don't need to remember any changes. The bright orange housing cap will alert any technician performing an oil change that the filter will be different, too.
  4. Manufacturer is Dorman Products, Inc.
  5. Reviews say this product is made in USA, but the listing says Malaysia (last checked 2025-05-29).
  6. Patents: No. 11,635,005 / 11,639,674 / 11,639,675
