Datsun was a car company located in Japan and founded in 1931. The company became Nissan and they were completely phased out by March of 1986. Nissan revived the brand in March of 2012 for use in Indonesia, India, and Russia. The name may have been used to test a new market, keeping the original Nissan brand safe from unexpected poor reviews and damaged reputation that sometimes occurs when a foreign brand enters a market.
