How much money do automotive YouTubers make? The answer may surprise you!

There is a lot of misinformation and outdated information about how much YouTubers in general make, because there are a lot of variables at play. To start, you have to clarify if you mean from YouTube ads, merch, memberships, sponsors/partnerships, affiliate links, or everything together. While most of those are going to vary wildly, what we can narrow down is their revenue is from YouTube ads.

One thing that helps us today is that we are focusing on the automotive section of YouTube. One of the things that makes YouTube revenue so hard to pin down is that the type of content ads appear on matters, with video game content paying very poorly, and financial content (stock market, real estate, etc.) makes considerably more per 1,000 views. Speaking of "per thousand views"; that is called RPM, or "Revenue Per Mille". This one of the measurements that are shown to creators so they can make sense of what they're making. Earnings per view would be quite a small number, typically less than a penny. RPM is also noteworthy because it's an amount the creator earns after YouTube/Google/Alphabet takes their cut, currently 45 percent, as well as it being closer an "actual" number, while others are more of an estimate.

Viewer location and age will also come into play, because different countries and ages have different levels of expendable income. For this we will assume a broad spectrum of ages, a majority of which are located in the

Anyway, automotive content falls in the middle of the two extremes of gaming and finance, but even within automotive content, there are types of content that will make more than others. Take "DIY" content, for example; this content is typically viewed by people that are actively looking to learn how to do something, so advertisers know the viewer may be looking for tools, parts, a place to buy these things, and so on. This makes these videos somewhat more valuable than a project car build, which is typically seen more as entertainment. Videos explaining how stuff works will also be seen as valuable, since the viewer likely values education, is trying to advance in their career, and has some free time for learning.

All that is to say that you will need to what sort of videos a given creator makes in order to get a general RPM value. So, here are some examples that have been rounded, as well as made less specific:
